A retailer in Canada is making plans to buy the hardware maker of simon rods and fishing lines.
Simon is based in Quebec, and in 2016 was bought by Walmart for $1.2 billion, according to Bloomberg.
Walmart bought the company in August, and is now using it to make products for its U.S. operations, the Financial Times reported.
The company’s founder, Guy Simons, founded the company with a goal of making fishing equipment and accessories that were more environmentally friendly.
Walmart and Simons’ companies have been partners since 2005, according the Times.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Simons said he was “really happy” to be buying Simons products.
Simons said in an email to the FT that he’s also looking to expand his fishing gear business in the United States.
He said Walmart is “a great partner” and will continue to work with him on projects and projects related to fishing gear.
